Stanford Global Health is proud to announce that Denishia Clark has been named the new Associate Director for the Connections unit at BioSci Careers and that Jody Berger has been appointed to the Freeman Spogli Institute where she will manage communications for both the Center for International Security and Cooperation (CISAC) the Cyber Policy Center.

For the last five years, Denishia has managed all global health education programs and initiatives for students, medical trainees, physician residents, clinical fellows and career faculty. During her term, she coordinated and supported three traveling scholars programs, which facilitated clinical service and teaching rotations for an average of 60 people each year. Denishia has supported more than 180 faculty affiliated with global health at the university; close to 30 clinical programs at Stanford School of Medicine. At least 300 traveling scholars in global health have been able exchange clinical and educational capacity with our partners locally and abroad. Additionally, she coordinated pre-departure orientations as well as risk and safety assessments.

Denishia will take on new leadership responsibilities as the Associate Director with BioSci Careers. There she will contribute to strategic development for career engagement for Stanford Biosciences students and trainees. She will support MDs, MS students, PhDs and postdocs in the Biosciences. Denishia is committed to supporting these emerging leaders on their journeys for academic success while expanding their professional networks.

Jody joined CIGH in June 2018 and quickly streamlined the Center messaging to create three core focus areas. She redesigned the website and wrote a steady stream of stories about Stanford Global Health faculty fellows, research, and events. She also worked with the Office of Communications to create the Global Health-themed edition of Stanford Medicine Magazine.

An award-winning journalist, Jody started her career writing for national magazines and newspapers, including the Los Angeles Times, the Rocky Mountain News, Sports Illustrated and ESPN Magazine. She co-authored an award-winning book about building and maintaining high-performance teams, The Loyalist Team: How Trust, Candor and Authenticity Create Great Organizations, and ran communications operations on several political campaigns.

At the Freeman Spogli Institute, Jody will manage communications for CISAC, which was founded in 1983 to tackle the most critical security issues in the world, and the Cyber Policy Center, Stanford’s center for the interdisciplinary study of issues at the nexus of technology, governance and public policy.
