The Global Health Emerging Scholars (GHES) Fellowship is a 12-month, NIH-supported, mentored training in global health research to improve population health. Hosted by a consortium of Yale University, Stanford University, University of Arizona, and UC Berkeley, the fellowship year typically runs July-June and offers training opportunities in 15 countries.

The fellowship is designed for U.S. postdoctoral scholars who have a doctoral/professional degree (PhD, DrPH, MD, DO, DVM, DDS), or predoctoral scholars based in the U.S. who are currently enrolled in a doctoral/professional degree program.   It is also for postdoctoral scholars based in a low- and middle-income country (LMIC) where we have a site and must have a doctoral/professional degree (PhD, DrPH, MBBS, MBChB, MD, DO, DVM, DDS, not a master’s degree). The program’s main objective is to train new generations of health researchers and professionals who will be prepared to address the emerging challenges in global health.

We are part of the Global Health Program for Fellows and Scholars/Launching Future Leaders in Global Health Research Training Program (LAUNCH) sponsored by the Fogarty International Center (FIC) and several collaborating institutes and centers at the National Institutes of Health (NIH).
