One player’s journey from Nigeria to Canada to The Farm

Tami Alade traveled an unlikely path to Stanford and her role with the 2018 National Championship Cardinal volleyball team. A senior human biology major, Alade’s impact is felt beyond the court. She aspires to become a pediatrician in underserved communities and served as a teaching assistant in Stanford Global Health Faculty Fellow Clea Sarnquist’s course on global child health.

“I’m drawn to the injustice and lack of access to health services because of social deterrents,” Alade said. “People in underserved communities will face worse health outcomes simply because of where they live and the color of their skin. That’s what I’m most passionate about addressing.”
