They are looking for full-time help for the summer and to continue 15 hours a week during the 2025-2026 school year. Main duties include helping launch a program for international visiting physicians, ​designing social media campaigns, and translating research and global collaborations to digital content.

Priority is given to students enrolled in undergraduate programs with a specialization in global/public health, international development, communications, marketing, art and media studies, or other related fields.

Position Title: Global Health Program Assistant 

Position Summary (Purpose) 

The mission of the Stanford Anesthesia Division of Global Health Equity is to promote access to safe, high-quality perioperative care regardless of geographic location or economic circumstance. We are committed to addressing disparities in perioperative outcomes. Our core values include engaging in international partnerships and supporting resource constrained health systems, training future global health leaders, fostering scholarship and innovation to overcome disparities in patient care, and advocating for policies that prioritize anesthesiology and safe perioperative care as essential components of global healthcare systems. 

Working with the Global Health Equity team, the GHE Program Assistant will play a pivotal role in supporting research and ongoing, as well as, developing projects, including the launch of an International Visiting Observer program and assisting with marketing initiatives in Global Engagement and Branding. This position is awarded by quarter/semester and is designed to support undergraduate (or graduate) students who are passionate about global health and interested in designing programs, partnership development, and digital journalism; priority is given to students enrolled in undergraduate programs with a specialization in global/public health, international development, communications, marketing, art and media studies, or other related fields. 

Core Duties: 

● Assist with international Visiting Observer program, including research, marketing, administration, application process, curriculum, and program evaluation. Act as liaison between anesthesiologists from different countries, department, and contacts at Stanford Health Care and Stanford Children’s Health offices and clinical units 

● Design digital outreach campaign, facilitate networks for fundraising and international collaboration, collect and organize photo/video footage, conduct interviews of Stanford physicians and international academic partners, manage social media presence (Instagram, LinkedIn) – create social media content calendar for 2025-2026 academic year, finalize branding video, help design and create content for annual report, update website 

Time Commitment: 

● Quarter, can be renewed (sophomore or junior preferred for longer term commitment) 

● 15 hrs/wk during Fall, Winter, Spring quarters, up to 40 hrs/wk during summer quarter as approved by FWS and funding availability 

● In-person two days a week is preferred, located on-campus at the beautiful Center for Academic Medicine. Schedule is flexible and can be executed from home, with the possibility of attending some in-person events 

Basic Skills and Criteria: 

● Over the age of 18 

● Ability to self-manage, set priorities, and easily adapt in a fast-paced, mission-driven team 

● Experience with graphic design and managing website content 

● Experience taking and editing photos and/or videos 

● Broad knowledge of global health and the main issues within the field 

● Ability to work under deadlines with general guidance 

● Strong design and/or data visualization skills 

● Excellent organizational skills and demonstrated ability to complete detailed work accurately 

● Detail-oriented and a strong self-starter, able to follow tasks through to completion with little supervision 

● Effective oral and written communication skills 

● Experience managing or contributing to personal or professional social media accounts 

Additional Desired Skills: 

● General understanding of scientific theory and methods, typically gained through completion of undergraduate coursework in a related field 

● Strong desk research and writing skills, with the ability to publish in peer-reviewed literature 

● Experience with Canva, ChatGPT, Hubspot, Google Workspace, Smartsheet, Excel
