Writing in the New England Journal of Medicine, Dr. Daryn Reicherter and Dr. Ryan Matlow discuss the Trump administration’s policy of separating immigrant children from their parents and detaining them along the U.S. border.

“Our concerns stem from the clear understanding in the medical and mental health communities that the indefinite detention of children and families is a form of trauma and is likely to cause lasting psychological harm,” they write.
